For my branding and strategy class, I developed a mock-up brand collaboration between Gentle Monster and Disney titled Gentle Princess.
This project aimed to merge Gentle Monster's avant-garde, progressive style with Disney Princesses' timeless, beloved world. The collaboration showcases how two distinct brands—one known for cutting-edge eyewear design and the other for iconic storytelling—can come together to create a unique fashion experience.
Concept Overview:
"Gentle Princess" reimagines the classic Disney Princess characters through the lens of Gentle Monster’s bold and avant-garde aesthetics.
The project centers on creating limited-edition eyewear inspired by the personalities and visual elements of various Disney Princesses. This collection blends the whimsical charm of Disney with the experimental, fashion-forward designs that Gentle Monster is known for.
Target Audience:
The collaboration targets a young, fashion-forward audience, particularly Gen Z and millennials, who value creativity, self-expression, and individuality.
These are consumers who appreciate cutting-edge design and also have a deep connection to Disney’s legacy of storytelling. By tapping into both nostalgia and modern fashion, Gentle Princess appeals to those looking for eyewear that is both playful and bold.
Product Line:
The Gentle Princess collection features sunglasses inspired by different Disney Princesses, each with unique design elements that reflect the character's iconic look and story. From Ariel’s oceanic motifs to Belle’s romantic gold tones, each pair of sunglasses captures the essence of a princess while maintaining Gentle Monster’s avant-garde flair.
Retail and Consumer Experience:
In line with Gentle Monster’s immersive retail philosophy, the Gentle Princess collection will be launched in a transformed store environment designed to evoke the feeling of stepping into an enchanted fairytale.
Each section of the store would represent a different Disney Princess world, creating an interactive shopping experience that blends the magic of Disney with the innovation of Gentle Monster’s retail spaces.
Marketing and Activation:
The collaboration would feature exclusive activations to celebrate the launch, such as special pop-up events during Fashion Week and Halloween-themed showcases where consumers could don Disney Princess-inspired outfits while trying on the eyewear collection.
The collaboration’s online presence would feature a playful, interactive website that brings the Gentle Princess concept to life with animations and design inspired by both brands.
